This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am excited to bring the "A Little Spot" social-emotional books and activities set to my classroom to foster empathy and understanding among my students. This engaging set of books will help my students understand and manage their emotions while nurturing compassion for others. Through relatable characters, my students will learn to see the world through the eyes of others, creating a classroom environment filled with mutual respect and understanding.
The activities that accompany these books will teach my students the importance of proactive kindness and compassion.
Through discussions, role-playing exercises, and hands-on activities, they will learn to recognize when their peers are in need and develop the confidence to offer support in various ways. These materials will be the foundation for our learning on being helpful to their peers and to others in their community. Students will have opportunities to identify ways in which they can help their communities by demonstrating compassion and proactive kindness. It’s heartwarming to watch them become empowered to make a positive impact, not just in our classroom but also in their wider community.
By tracking changes in student interactions I can see how well they are applying empathy and compassion in their daily lives.
