My Project

Our school library becomes a place where students come when they're finished with their classwork or when they just need some downtime. While I agree that some of our students need and deserve the downtime, I do not like for them to just sit idly by, letting their brain go to mush.

These board and card games are activities that will keep their brains active.

Research shows that playing board and card games with peers has SOOO many benefits: teaching resilience and teamwork, promoting healthy brain development, and building stamina and focus, just to name a few. Students see it as "playing games with their friends", but it's so much more than that. There is a lot of action going on that they don't even realize. When I see students play games together, I see community building, strengthening critical thinking skills, and putting their creativity to work.
