Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are nothing short of amazing! They are bright, curious, and love to learn. I serve 8th graders in junior high who are at a tough age where they are beginning to learn about themselves and where they fit into the world.

Their desire to learn and grow is infectious.

My students are so eager to soak up as much information as they can. We have evolved a culture of kindness, collaboration, and creativity. I want to continue to inspire my kids and continue to develop their love of literacy.

My Project

Reading builds vocabulary, empathy, and has the ability to connect the reader to the outside world. Reading encourages critical thinking and prepares students for the rigors of college and career. These Project LIT selections will give my students an opportunity to learn more about themselves in addition to people of other cultures and experiences. My students will have the opportunity to read these books during independent reading, book clubs, and after-school book clubs. Having books that are relevant to my student's lives and experiences is vital to them being able to find a love for reading. My students rave about my classroom library. Please help me make sure this trend continues!
