This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school is a very special place. We're a small school that feels much more like a family. Our staff works to bring our students together throughout the year for community-centered events so they can feel like they, too, are part of this family. Most of these events are centered around food. Food has always proved to be a fruitful way to bring students together outside of academics, so they can get to know each other and understand each other better. It's a fantastic practice that helps us build our school community; however, we often lack one item - a cooking apparatus.
The gift of a campus Blackstone griddle would help us host our pancake breakfasts and barbecues with greater ease and bring our students together over food.
The smaller griddles staff often provide from home do not allow us to produce the food fast enough. Rather than enjoying the event and cultivating positive social relationships, sometimes students are left lingering in line. A Blackstone would help us make the food quickly and in larger quantities so students could focus on enjoying each other's company and building connections on campus. Also, for some of our students, their main meal of the day comes from school. If we can provide them with a good meal and a chance to socialize constructively, it sets them up for a fantastic day.
We love our kids, our staff, and our site, and what better way to express that love than by breaking bread together. We truly appreciate your consideration and support!
