Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We will use the classroom rug for the whole group area. This area is intentionally used to teach social emotional learning and build classroom community. We are using both Second Step and Sanford Harmony curriculum for these social emotional and growth mindset lessons. For example, students are learning how to truly listen to others and to respond to keep the conversation going or to truly understand what others are thinking. It will also be used for classroom discussions about particular subjects in all content areas. We currently do not have a rug, and it would really be a symbol for community time.
