My Project
My fifth-grade students love to learn. They love to be engaged. We are working extra hard on building good character through engagement. Collaboration and the ability to communicate feelings and thoughts are very important for fifth graders. It is something we continuously try to improve. These items would allow us to continue building on these skills.
Not only is Social Emotional Learning extremely important to their daily lives, but, also keeping books that interest them in both fiction AND non-fiction books is also VERY important to our learning.
The extra emphasis we would receive in Current Events, Science, and Social Studies through the Scholastic News subscription will enhance their understanding of many topics at an age-appropriate level. Being a team player and regulating emotions are important skills for students of all ages, especially for fifth graders. Additionally, having access to more fiction and non-fiction books/magazines is valuable. While they love graphic novels, being able to read non-fiction stories about topics relevant to them is crucial. It is very important for them to have exposure to different sources from each genre.
