This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many of our students long for positive connections and interaction with their peers and adults. Due to the pandemic, many coping skills, and positive social and emotional learning got lost. The perler beads with the iron will help students with the mindfulness. The slime kit will actually be used to make calming jars to be used in the classroom to help positively regulate their emotions while keeping students in the classroom.These tools will also help teachers build relationships with students.

We notice so often at our school that students struggle with being social, talking positively about themselves and others, and regulating their emotions.

Utilizing the conversation cards and the other materials during morning meeting time, transition, special areas, and groups will give students an alternative to negative play.

I hope to reduce calls for assisting students in regulatory play and give students the skills needed to help each other.
