This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We have brilliant first graders who are excited to learn. They come to class with endless amount of energy and enormous smiles every day! Students will begin their day right aways by using STEM toys engage in cognitive thinking. STEM toys will be used in morning bins as a soft start while morning business is conducted and students settle in the classroom.
STEM toys encourage original thought, improves cognitive learning, enhances creative thinking, improves fine and gross motor skills, as well as builds interpersonal skills.
With STEM toys, like PicassoTiles and 3D Building Blocks, children are encouraged to think independently and use their intelligence to overcome hurdles. Not only does the child approach problems independently, but they’re also open to facing struggles confidently. When students realize they can grasp ideas related to math and science, it boosts their confidence and they’ll be open to these topics in their later years as well. STEM toys are also a social experience. STEM toys promote play, cooperation, and problem solving among peers, building their interpersonal skills as well.
As an educator, it is imperative to make education and learning a fun, interesting activity for kids. And that’s exactly what STEM toys do. STEM time will be implemented throughout the year in a variety to fun ways.
