Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The children who I serve all come from unique and various cultural backgrounds. These children deserve the opportunity to create various art projects that represent themselves. The cultural book will allow for an open dialogue between the occupational therapist to promote confidence and self-esteem in the student who are served. The crayons and markers will be used while designing and drawing different people who come from different cultures. The puzzle will allow the development of fine motor, and visual perceptual skills while supporting children to be aware of the unique beauty of different cultures. Additionally, the sensory items such as the weighted plush and body sock will promote children with sensory needs to have the sensory support to feel calm while completing these projects.

These resources will promote children to develop their fine motor, visual perceptual, and sensory processing skills while completing culturally based projects to promote academic success and cultural awareness.

These children often have various disabilities such as Autism, learning disorders, among various impairments. These children come from various cultural backgrounds and deserve the ability to see themselves being represented while completing activities during occupational therapy. This is my first year working in New York City Public Schools and have limited supplies to provide quality service. Please consider donating to my project in order to promote the best outcome for my children who absolutely need support.
