This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have the great pleasure of teaching the sweetest kindergartners! A typical day in our kindergarten classroom includes movement, singing, laughter, learning and a lot of fun. My students are 5 or 6 years old and they are naturally curious learners. They learn best through movement and play activities that keep them engaged.

My students are energetic learners that love school!

They want to learn about the world around them. They are just starting their journey to become lifelong learners and I am looking to make this experience as memorable for them as possible!

My Project

STEAM materials give students to exercise their brain while having fun! In my classroom, we start our mornings using STEAM materials.

My students love starting their day with STEAM!

I am starting this project to continue to grow the collection of STEAM materials in my classroom. These items will contribute to my students' continued practice of collaboration, respect, and problem-solving. While building, students are collaborating with peers by working together and sharing materials. They learn to apporpriately communicate with one another and use respect for peer designs. I enjoy watching students problem-solve when they are improving a design or share ideas for improvement with their classmates.

My students will use these materials daily! When students start their day in my classroom, they choose their building material and create. I want to be able to provide more options for students so they are have more variety when building. I am also excited to see what students can create with the building blocks, geometric construction kit, and Skoolzy Straws during our reading and math activities!

STEAM materials have made such a difference in my classroom! I hope to continue to be able to provide students with materials that help them create and exercise their brains!
