Building Bibliophiles and Book Worms in Middle School!
Help me give my students a set of novels for us to enjoy and further our reading development.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Dorie L. Clayman's classroom raised $247
This project is fully funded
My Students
I work in west Philadelphia where the families have very limited resources to help support their children's literacy needs. Recently, I had the chance to revitalize the school library. For years, this space has not been used, and our students have been thrilled to experience a transformed space to learn, listen, and read. Students at our school come to class without pencils, paper, folders, and many times without even breakfast. JB is a K-8 school with approximately 800 students. The students I teach are excited to learn and happy to be a part of our school community. However, materials and supplies are almost non-existent and need to be purchased by the teachers. Students here love to read and need all the support they can get.
My Project
This set of novels will help inspire a diverse group of learners who all need support with their literacy skills. A novel about climbing Mt. Everest will push my students to find out that there are no limits and they can achieve anything that they really want to. I know that encouraging our learners in the classroom with various kinds of books will open doors to future reading and development.
I strongly believe that the 'more you read the more you know.' With this said, engaging my classroom scholars about the exploration and true tales of climbing Mt.
Everest will urge them to find out that the 'sky's the limit'!
