Building Bi-Literacy Skills! Language and Comprehension Through Felt Stories

My Project

My multilingual deaf students are amazing! At our dual language school, we strive to empower our students as deaf individuals to be lifelong learners and innovative thinkers with diverse linguistic, ethnic, and cultural identities who are fluent in both American Sign Language and English.

This project will provide my youngest learners access to visual and tactile felt board pieces that are ideal as they foster a highly interactive and visual way to learn, engaging children's senses through touch, sight, and sound while also promoting language development, fine motor skills, creativity, and social interaction; making storytelling fun and engaging for young children.

Students can use the felt pieces to retell familiar stories, create their own stories. With these resources, I will be able to create a dynamic learning environment that meets the diverse needs of my students. Your support will make a tremendous impact on their educational journey and help them thrive both in and out of the classroom.
