Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As an art teacher, I'm always looking for new ways for my students to create things other than just drawing and painting. My students have always asked me about 3D sculptural projects, especially clay, but I haven't had the resources to give them those experiences. Additionally, having simple, reusable building materials like LEGOs and magnet blocks will allow them to have those experiences for many years to come. The Perler beads are a unique way to make 2D and 3D pixel-like designs that I think my students would really enjoy.
My goal for this project is for my students to experience 3D art-making and what it's like to bring their exciting ideas to life.
I also know that having these materials will be beneficial for all my classes (I teach all grades from PreK to 8th grade), including my autistic support classes, which need/enjoy those hands-on activities.
