This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am reaching out yet again now to seek support for my project aimed at creating an inclusive and welcoming environment in my classroom. As an educator, I recognize the importance of nurturing identity-affirming spaces, especially for students with diverse backgrounds.

The primary focus of my project is to introduce a collection of identity-affirming and graphic books that represent the diverse backgrounds of my students.

This initiative is important to me and my students as it ensures that each student can see themselves reflected in the literature available in our classroom. Graphic novels will be included, as they provide a valuable visual aid for new language learners, facilitating a more engaging learning experience.

In addition to literature, this project focuses on addressing other essential needs. Flexible seating options, fidget tools, and hygiene products will be provided to create a comfortable and supportive learning environment. Recognizing the upcoming celebration of Ramadan, I am also seeking decorations to educate and celebrate with students who observe this important cultural event.

Your generous support will enable my students, especially those newcomers to the country, to feel more welcomed, nurtured, and included in the learning process. Together, we can create a classroom that not only supports academic growth but also embraces and celebrates the rich diversity within our community.
