Building an Inclusive and Engaging New Special Day Class

My Project
I’m launching a brand new 3rd–5th grade Autism Special Day Class (SDC) at our school, and I’m excited to welcome 12 incredible students into a space that is being built entirely from scratch. These students deserve a classroom that is engaging, inclusive, and designed to meet their unique learning needs from day one.
To make this possible, I’m requesting essential supplies that will support hands-on learning, organization, creativity, and sensory regulation.
My cart includes student whiteboards and Expo markers that will be used during interactive phonics lessons—allowing students to stay engaged while building foundational literacy skills. I'm also including paint, brushes, and easel paper to encourage creative expression and support fine motor development through art.
Classroom organization bins, pencils, and decor like borders will help create a welcoming, structured environment, while sensory tools will give students strategies to self-regulate and focus throughout the day. Every item in this project has been carefully chosen to help set these students up for success both academically and emotionally.
