This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Within a classroom, it is vital for students to feel a sense of community and belonging. In our world where children are isolated with social media and gaming, a classroom needs to be a safe place for growth. While a simple rug seems like a trivial item, I have seen the power of community that it can bring. Having a designated space within a classroom where interactions occur- where learning occurs-can be a powerful motivator in growth. Student know the structure it can provide and the safety that expectation brings.

Students flourish in an environment that is safe and interactive.

I work in a dual immersion charter school with a high diverse population. This school year, my school has installed interactive whiteboards in the classroom. I would love to be able to use them anywhere in the room. The interactive tablet allows that control and ability. During a lesson, I can choose to allow student to interact at the screen or via the tablet based on their movement or focus needs. With a classroom rug, I can use the tablet to allow students to interact from their spot on the rug. Please help me provide this extra sparkle to my classroom this year.
