My Project
My preschool students love to build—whether it’s with blocks, magnets, or recycled materials, they are always designing, stacking, and creating. Building play helps them develop problem-solving skills, fine motor coordination, and collaboration. But as they play, I’ve noticed that the characters they use in their imaginative stories often don’t represent who they are or the communities they come from. This project will provide building materials alongside inclusive play figures that reflect a wide range of races, cultures, abilities, and roles in the community. These resources will help my students see themselves—and others—represented in their play, supporting both creative exploration and a strong sense of identity and belonging.
