The key to success in a classroom is building a warm, loving environment from the ground up! A new opportunity has arisen! As of next year, I will be calling myself a 1st grade teacher for children with Autism! Where do I begin? I believe it must all start with the environment! I know if I create an environment that is adaptable, safe, engaging, and most of all, loving, then success will follow.
My challenged students already have obstacles that they need to endure and/or overcome. It is my job as their teacher to ensure that the climate in which they learn does not present any unnecessary obstacles that may impede their learning abilities.
I believe that I must build this classroom from the ground up. A large percentage of the academic day will be completed during "circle time. "Circle Time" consists of many different activities. Language development/communication,interactive opportunities, mathematical concepts etc. This colorful carpet will add pizazz to our classroom space as well as provide comfort and familiarity to my students daily routines.
I am so excited about my new opportunity. Helping me build a space for my pumpkins with Autism will allow me to focus on the academic instruction, language and communication development and overall provide me a chance to spend more time nurturing them!
