My Project
In my gifted classroom, students love theme-based learning and open ended exploration. It is always so rewarding to see students discover their strengths and weaknesses through inquiry and investigation. Their favorite part of our lessons is exploring the possibilities using hands-on manipulatives.
I love to spark the imagination and curiosity of my students.
We begin with discussing our theme, then move to challenges based on that theme. For example, using magna tiles or building straws, students reconstructed landmarks from the seven continents and wrote details and problem solving techniques about their creations.
When we work on thinking skills games, students must identify the type of thinking they are using to solve a puzzle or play a game, diving deeper into their metacognitive abilities. Our novel study, Matilda, has allowed my students to reflect upon their own giftedness and review their affective skills.
