My Students
My students are a curious and talented group of third graders in an ICT special education integrated classroom. Most of the students are on free or reduced-price lunch and come from low-income neighborhoods. We try to make our classroom an oasis, a happy and peaceful place that fosters learning and exploration.
It is important for me to provide my students with all of the resources they might not have otherwise since school is often the stepping stone to break the cycle of poverty in families.
I am passionate about what I do and seeing my students learning and growing justifies all of the hard work that I do.
My Project
This year I will have a large number of students in a small space. To make sure the class still maintains a level of joy and comfort, I am moving to a flexible seating plan so students don't walk in to rows of desks!
Students learn best where they are comfortable and welcomed.
It is important that my students feel ownership of their classroom and happy in their learning space. I am hoping to create a joyful environment where learning is exciting, not a chore. With flexible seating in the classroom, I can open up space for work stations, promote student independence and choice, and create a joyful classroom ready for eager learners!
