Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In school social work sessions, students are given a safe space to focus on their mental health, process complex emotions, and identify supports and strategies to build healthy and safe behaviors throughout their lives.
These books will provide students with additional tools for processing and growing--by seeing themselves represented, building their emotional expression, self-regulation, and maintaining healthy relationships.
The books in this library highlight a diverse range of experiences and backgrounds, allowing students to see themselves and their lives in stories. My hope for this library is to use bibliotherapy as a tool for students to feel less alone in all that they are processing, and give them hope for the people they are becoming. My students will enjoy reading books like I Can Control My Anger, I Need a Hug, Día de los Muertos, Playing with Lanterns, Shunya's Mindful Garden, and more.
