Building a Sensory Sanctuary for Our Autism Program

it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The sensory tools I'm requesting will make a significant difference in my students' learning and communication by helping them regulate their emotions, reduce anxiety, and enhance focus. For students with autism, sensory regulation is closely tied to their ability to communicate effectively. Items, like light-up tools and kinetic sand, provide calming visual and tactile stimulation, while the spinning chair and busy board offer sensory exploration that can ease sensory overload. This calming environment will support their ability to engage in meaningful communication and participate more fully in speech therapy and classroom activities.
My primary goal for this project is to create a sensory room that empowers my students to succeed both academically and socially.
By addressing their sensory needs, I aim to improve their focus, participation in learning activities, and communication skills.
What makes my students special is their incredible resilience and unique ways of interacting with the world. They each bring a diverse range of strengths and perspectives, and with the right support, they can achieve remarkable progress in both their learning and communication. This sensory room will help unlock their potential, giving them the environment they need to succeed.
