Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a teacher to an amazing group of third grade students. These past two years have completely changed what our daily rituals used to be. We have to greet each other with a mask covering our smiling faces, however, I can still see the excitement and happiness in their eyes. This year I have the privilege of teaching a grade level that is new for me.

The school they attend is classified as a Title I school; therefore most of them are "at-risk students".

All of them qualify to participate in the free breakfast and lunch programs. The community in which they live in is stricken by a high level of poverty. This, however, does not affect their desire to please me, which in turn makes me love my job even more so. I can only hope to impact them on the importance of striving for success.

My Project

The sensory and/or fidget toys and erasers will be used to start a reward system or treasure chest for my students. I want to encourage great study habits that will last them or better prepare them for their future educational requirements. The selected leveled readers/books will be given as Christmas gifts to build a mini library in their home environments.

My students' families are not as fortunate to provide rewards for great learning habits, good grades and/or appropriate behavior, so I would like to have some of the latest favorite "knick-knack" among young children to encourage them to keep working hard.

The Teachers Pay Teachers gift card will be used to purchase reusable resource that I can enhance specific learning skills as I prepare my third grade students for the state required assessments.
