This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My Pre-K students live in a homeless shelter in the 3rd largest school district in the USA. They are resilient 4-year-olds that are full of hope and promise for a bright future. They are 60% Hispanic and 40% African-American and ALL receive a FREE lunch due to their family's economic status.
This project will provide classroom pets including hamsters, fish, and geckos as vital science learning that students can't have at their homes, as it is not allowed in the homeless shelters.
These pets will provide learning in caring for the animals, cleaning their enclosures, and feeding them appropriately. Students will have "jobs" assigned to them to teach daily responsibilities that align with the pets in the classroom. By the end of the school year, every student will have cared for all the animals in different capacities.
Students will also learn about water testing in the fish tank, reptile breeding, and hamster birthing as added lessons at an early age! Please help bring added excitement to my classroom by bringing "NOAH's ARK" to my room!
