Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We have almost 700 students enrolled at our campus. The majority of our students are English language learners and qualify for free lunch programs. We offer an after-school program that gives low socioeconomic students a variety of classes to choose from and develop certain skills. These range from cooking to computer coding. As the computer lab teacher, I see all students in class at least once a week.
They come eager to learn and excited to take on any challenge.
They look forward to the special classes they have available.
My Project
My Gifted and Talented are a great group of kids. They have been recognized in our district for their accomplishments and effort put into their projects. This group of students helps me in the production of our morning announcements. they saw me upgrade our current desktop with better parts to make it run faster and now they are wanting a better computer for our needs.
Why buy when you can build!
The burden of processing multiple cameras, changing a green-screen with overlays for our backdrop, live stream and record the announcements every morning is too much for our old desktop.
That's why I want to show them how to put together their own computer. We can salvage some of the hardware on our current system, like the processor, but we will require much newer hardware for our needs to stream and record the announcements. The skills they learn through building a computer will help them diagnose potential problems they may have in their personal computers.
