Building a Maker Lab with a 3D Printer!

My students need a 3D printer to add to my exciting new "Maker Lab"!

My Students

Cries of "Wow, that's the coolest thing ever!" ring through my third grade classroom. All of my students huddle around my new 3D printer as it whirs away, building a replica of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

These wide eyed group of discoverers are fearless when it comes to technology and eager to tackle new ideas and new materials.

They are an inquiring, knowledgeable, and compassionate group of young people, who see science as a pathway to dreaming, creating, and growing.

When I introduced them to my 3d printer, Marlin, they were hooked.

By the end of the year, all of my 3rd graders were modeling objects in 3d, then printing them out on our printer.

We are the only science focused school in a massive school district of 28 elementary schools. Our students come from all over Fremont to attend our small but prestigious science magnet.

Here these little scientists are constantly engaged in hands-on studies of the life, physical, and earth sciences.

My Project

My successful 3D printing experiences at my school inspired me to turn my classroom into a Maker's Lab, where students use math, art, computers, and 3D printers to turn their ideas into tangible objects that can be used to educate, reward, and stimulate creativity.

We need a SainSmart x Creality CR-10S Semi-Assembled 3D Printer to add to our burgeoning Maker's Lab.

The CR-10S is a mid range printer, with a large printing area for bigger builds and easy enough for students as young as 8 to use.

This technological wonder will add to our already awesome STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) program.
