My Students
The most amazing 2nd graders you have ever met. Despite the hardships they face everyday in the Title I community school, in which they attend, these students prosper in everything they do. These students come to school everyday after enduring who knows what at home, with the biggest smiles on their faces. They are not only smart, but they are fun and energetic. They are always ready to learn and take it upon themselves to get ready for learning everyday.
How do I describe my 2nd grade students as a whole when each one is so amazingly unique?
They impress me on a daily basis and I feel honored to be their teacher.
My Project
Currently my students are working on building their reading stamina and comprehension. This requires them to choose numerous books at a time so they have choices. Currently they are unable to do that because of the lack of resources in our school. Students are on many different reading levels.
This leveled library will allow those students who are not reading to fall in love with it and the students who are reading to enhance their levels by giving them options.
Currently the students have to travel to different classrooms to obtain the reading books they need. This takes away from instructional time, interferes with other classes learning time and is discouraging for the students. It would be beneficial for them to have books readily available to them at all times.
