This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach an energetic group of bilingual and special education 7th-grade students. At W.H.H. Elementary, teachers and staff value each student as a whole person. Their interests, backgrounds, struggles, and successes - both in school and in the community - are what make our school a more unique and special place. The students and staff value diversity of all people and strive for achievement in all that we do. My students are budding athletes, world travelers, mathematicians, scientists, entrepreneurs, teachers, authors... They are our future, and I want to give them a great start to their journey of life-long learning.

My Project

Currently in my 7th-grade classroom, there are two small shelves on either side of the radiator. This is not enough space to store the books in our classroom library! The lack of shelving space also prevents my students and I from growing our classroom library with new and exciting titles. We will use the shelving to store our books and book bins. Additionally, students will be taught responsibility by acting as librarians for our classroom. The students will be in charge of signing books out and in, as well as carefully returning books to their assigned places. Please help our classroom library grow!
