This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have the privilege of working with an incredible group of students from diverse backgrounds and experiences. No matter their journey, one thing remains true—they come ready and eager to learn. For many of them, the fine arts are more than just a class—they’re a reason to come to school. Music provides a meaningful outlet for creativity, exploration, and self-expression.

My students attend music class multiple times a week, where we learn through singing, dancing, games, playing instruments, and independent center time.

One of their favorite parts of class is our center time, and the music library center is always a hit. It gives students the opportunity to explore music independently, build literacy skills, and deepen their connection to the subject.

Because I see many of the same students year after year, our current library collection is starting to feel repetitive. This project would help refresh and expand our music classroom library, offering new titles that reflect a variety of cultures, styles, and stories—keeping students engaged, inspired, and excited to learn.
