This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

DonorsChoose helped me start a classroom library for my striving and reluctant readers. Now, my students are requesting specific titles such as Captain Underpants and Judy Moody. Let’s keep the momentum going! Our classroom library has become a place where my growing readers can practice the strategies they learn in class and apply them to texts they enjoy.

Your support will allow my students to strengthen their reading skills while connecting with characters who look like them.

By incorporating titles such as the MARCH Trilogy, New Kid, Dear Martin, Una vez fui tú — Edición para jóvenes, and Becoming: Adapted for Young Readers, my students will gain greater exposure to the diverse world we live in.

Several students attend my school because they feel they do not have the academic skills needed for traditional paths. Many believe that learning a trade is their best option. However, I know that becoming stronger readers will open up even more opportunities for them. Thank you for helping us grow our classroom library and build a future where every student can thrive.
