Building a Kind Community

My Students

My students are my inspiration to be my best each year. Every year I wait with excitement and eagerness to set up my classroom for the my new students. I love the sparkle in their eyes and the smile on their faces as they explore their new world.

We learn and grow together, and every year is a new learning experience for me.

As we explore our worlds together, I set goals for myself to be a better teacher each year!

My Project

At the end of each school year I reflect and set goals for myself to better serve my students. This past year has given us a lot to reflect, not just about the obvious and how it has affected our lives and way of teaching and learning, but also about the hidden under currents that suddenly surfaced as hate and racism across the globe! This past year our kids have witnessed and experienced such events that are too much for their young minds to grapple with.

Even though there wasn't much that could be done about the spread of the deadly virus, it was the virus of hate and racism that shook their world!

Ignorance breeds fear and hate, and as it spreads and continues to take over, I want to educate and empower my kids to fight it.

Reading teaches us things, I want to place books in my students' hands that will teach them to accept differences, understand other humans, cultures, learn how to make a difference towards creating a peaceful world. I want these kids to know they can make a difference and create a kind world.
