This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our large school has a high ELL population with high spirits to learn and grow. These amazing scholars are full of life and come from many wonderful, diverse backgrounds. My amazing school is full of many different scholars such as ELL, ESE, and a range of cultures. They are eager to learn something new and deepen their knowledge of something they already know. The scholars at the school are always ready to explore, work as a team, and work hard to gain more knowledge.
My Project
One of our Kindergarten classrooms is in need of a new listening center. The current listening center is broken and the scholars use this center everyday to help build their fluency in reading. It would be greatly appreciated if they could start using this center again with new working supplies.
A new listening center with audio books will help our kindergarten scholars build fluency in reading, as well as, listen and learn new words.
A listening center provides a model of fluent reading and helps the scholars focus on the sounds of words read without interruption. "Audio books also give scholars an important introduction to listening "— a skill that scholars must master in order to learn to read.
