My Students

My students are hardworking, kind, and ready to learn! Our class has lots of energy. My students come from a variety of backgrounds. I have students who are learning English as a second language. I have students who have learning disabilities. I have students who struggle with focusing during the school day.

These students are special because although they come from varied backgrounds and abilities, they are willing to work together to make the world a better place.

Our world is a crazy place right now, and I know my students have been impacted by the many changes, uncertainties, and fear that has resulted from the pandemic and civil unrest. However, I know they can overcome and learn from their experiences today to make a better tomorrow.

My Project

These materials will contribute to my students' ability to learn and increase their desire to learn! The flexible sitting option will be an incentive and reward for students. The LEGOs and fraction tiles will help my visual learners grasp abstract concepts. They will also be used as assessments to help me see if my students understand what I am teaching them.

I am especially excited about the books in this project because they will be a springboard for important discussions in my classroom.

They each teach about the need to accept others, encourage others, and help others. They address the variety of people in this world including those who experience poverty, disability, and various cultural backgrounds. I hope that our discussions after reading these books will help encourage my class to stand up for what is right. In our current national state, I want to teach children to care about each other and encourage them to be a source of good in the world.
