Building a Community in STEAM

Help me give my students the chance to build a community that fosters teamwork and collaboration in STEAM through gaming. Board games also promote the higher order thinking skills assessed by Bloom's Taxonomy.

My Students

My students are curious, creative STEAM learners! They have absolutely taken on this 2nd year resource class at our elementary school by showing their talents for science, technology, engineering, art, and math. Our STEAM program started from the ground up in September 2017 when the students walked through the door on the first day of school with excitement for what STEAM holds. We've been making steady progress in building our STEAM program for our K-5 students through generous donations.

My STEAM students are engaged through opportunities that allow for both critical thinking and imaginative thought.

They excel with design challenges, coding, and in imagineering new concepts.

My Project

Students need opportunities to foster their teamwork skills in STEAM. Board games, both fun and skill-based and educational, offer the necessary time to promote interaction and collaboration.

Students can build upon their socialization prowess and critical-thinking skills related to 21st century learning through gaming in STEAM.

It is important to foster a love of STEAM through a multitude of activities that associate with science, technology, engineering, art, and math. The Tower of Math Games supports classroom learning in the areas of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Board games also support problem-solving, logic, and the ability to premeditate actions. Creating a community through gaming fosters relationships that are long-lasting!
