The building club needs materials to build an outdoor trash can holder.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Hammond's classroom raised $209
This project is fully funded
Bragg Street Academy is a small alternative middle and high school in Lee County, North Carolina. Every year the school sponsors clubs during lunch time in order to expose students to areas in which they are interested but which are outside the traditional curriculum. This year some of the students chose to have a building club.
For their first project, the club has decided to build an outdoor trash can holder. The school currently has no trash cans outside because of the danger of animals and insects. By placing the trash can in a holder with a closing lid, the students hope to avoid the animal problem while helping to beautify the campus.
Using math and logic skills, the students in the club designed the holder and calculated the materials needed. Teachers are providing the tools necessary, but the actual building materials are outside of our budget.
Building together will help students with their math, their logic, and their teamwork. It will also give the students an opportunity to learn skills they would not be able to learn inside a classroom, and allow them the opportunity to give back to the school. These nontraditional learners can benefit greatly from hands-on experience, and you can help to make their project a reality.
