Building a Classroom That Feels Like Home

My Project

Creating a flexible seating and reading corner in my classroom will make a meaningful difference in my students' learning by giving them more choice, comfort, and ownership over their environment. Many students focus better when they’re able to move, stretch, or choose a seat that fits their learning style. Items like wobble stools, floor cushions, and soft rugs will help create a calm and inviting space where students feel safe and ready to learn. The reading corner will also encourage students to build positive reading habits by offering a cozy space that makes reading feel special and enjoyable.

The goal of this project is to create a learning environment that supports student engagement, independence, and a love for reading.

I want every student to feel excited to come to class, and I believe having flexible seating options and a dedicated reading area will help meet their academic and emotional needs. These changes will support my classroom routines, small group instruction, and overall classroom management by giving students clear choices and responsibilities.

My students are curious, hardworking, and full of energy. They come from diverse backgrounds and each bring something unique to our learning community. What makes them special is their resilience and eagerness to grow when given the right tools and opportunities. This project is about giving them a space that reflects how much I believe in them and supports their journey as learners.
