This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are Boston Public School 9th graders attending a dual language school. They are passionate, funny, smart, sincere, and kind. They come from various parts of the city, and their backgrounds are equally diverse with students who are Cape Verdean, Dominican, Puerto Rican, Albanian, and Nigerian.

My students' backgrounds might vary, but, like most of us, they love good stories; I am committed to putting great books in their hands this year that make them enjoy reading.

Since our school does not have a library, accessing books is more challenging for my students. I'd like to start to eliminate this barrier by building a classroom library filled with books that tell varied stories and reflect their identities and interests.
