Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Schools are supposed to be a safe place for students to learn and grow. Unfortunately, my students bring with them lots of baggage to class every day. As little humans, they do not know how to leave it at the door and focus on their learning. They are constantly being pulled in multiple directions as they are trying to figure out who they are; street smart or book smart?
My students are my family and we are working on learning how to be the best that we a can be, while still embracing where we come from and our vibrant culture.
We are BTW Hornets proud of who we are and where we come from. Being the first black school in Tampa our school is full of rich history full of perseverance, hard-work, and determination.
My Project
As we enter the second half of the school year it is my goal to truly prepare my students for middle school. A theme in our classroom this year has been social-emotional learning. In order to be successful individual in this world you need to know who you are and how you actions effect those around you.
In order to continue to grow the relationships in our classroom I would like to create a clear space where we can meet and discuss our social-emotion learning; our classroom rug.
The classroom rug will be a place for us to celebrate our successes and encourage one another to continue to reach our goals.
