This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At our high school, students face unique challenges during lunchtime due to the absence of a cafeteria building. With limited options to eat—either outside on benches or inside classrooms—it’s crucial to create a more inviting environment.

I’m seeking a microwave, popcorn, a high bar table, a trash can, snacks, a surge protector, and a charging station to enhance our lunch experience.

The microwave will allow students to heat meals, making lunchtime more enjoyable and encouraging them to take much-needed breaks. Popcorn and snacks provide fun, shared treats that foster community and camaraderie. A high bar table will create a designated space for socializing, helping students relax and connect, which is essential for mental health.

My students are incredibly creative and heavily involved in our community through our school's project-based learning approach. They thrive on collaboration, innovation, and hands-on experiences, often working together on community service projects and initiatives that make a positive impact. By establishing a communal space for lunch, we can nurture their creativity and encourage them to engage with one another more freely.

This project aims to create a welcoming lunchtime environment that supports their overall success and strengthens our school community. These items will not only make lunch more comfortable but also contribute positively to students' mental health, creating a sense of belonging and well-being. By providing them with a space to relax, recharge, and connect, we’re investing in their growth as individuals and active community members.
