My Project
Our students are primarily young teens of color who are incarcerated in New York City. Many are special education students and benefit from hands-on learning activities. We hope to offer a hydroponics program to teach them vocational skills for employment. The goal is to provide our students with skills to build their self-efficacy, horticulture and hydroponics knowledge, and improve their interpersonal collaboration. Our students have previously benefitted from growing and caring for plants and we hope to expand this programming to more youth through the addition of hydroponics.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
