This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Living through the last couple of years has been challenging for our students, and many of them have experienced losses and hardships that have been difficult for them to process. As their librarian, it is important to me that I provide them with materials they can use to help them process the big emotions they are feeling.

By supporting this project, you will provide students with access to materials that feature characters who look like them and who have shared similar experiences, as well as books that help them name their emotions, begin to understand them, and learn how to move through them.

Expecting students to focus on what they are being taught in class is a big ask without first giving them the tools to emotionally regulate themselves, so these new books will be invaluable to my school and will go a long way to supporting student learning.
