Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Finishing strong with house spirit is key! As we near the end of the school year, we recognize the importance of keeping students motivated and focused. With end-of-year testing approaching, we want to bring new energy and excitement to our campus to help students finish strong—both academically and behaviorally.
Our system is a vital part of our Tier 1 behavior support.
Students are placed into one of four houses, creating a sense of unity and belonging across grade levels. This system helps build strong relationships and encourages every student to contribute to a positive school culture.
To support this goal, we’re planning a series of spirit days and pep rallies that will celebrate our students’ hard work and reinforce our expectations. These events are designed to lift morale, reward effort, and strengthen house pride.
We’re requesting garment racks to display our house flags proudly and move them easily throughout the school. These visual symbols of teamwork and identity will inspire students and keep school spirit high. We're also incorporating fun incentives like beads and temporary tattoos to boost excitement during pep rallies. Beads will be used in our Ro Sham Bo competition, where the house with the most beads wins—sparking healthy competition, teamwork, and pride.
These additions will help refresh our current systems and give our students the extra encouragement they need to finish the year strong—with confidence, focus, and Burney pride.
