Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students live in a city where crime rates are high and there is a 98% poverty rate. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences that any other student is able to have.
Although I may not be able to control their home lives, I can certainly control their experience during the school day.
By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.
My students, although only 3 and 4 years old are hard workers, and they deserve to come to school and feel safe and loved, and I'm happy to be the one who is able to give them that.
My Project
Having a child naturally solve a problem through play is what we want and expect from our students. With this STEM learning kit, the matierials are set out, and they can easily play and make their own decisions about how to solve a problem.
These simple activities can teach such powerful problem solving, and are a great asset to have in the classroom for our students.
With a simple machine block play set, its easy to show a child how simple machines make work easier! Pulleys, wedges and screws are used in this hands-on experience with cause and effect.
