This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

These students are very sweet but can come from rough home environments. The classroom is their safe place to be kids. These students love to create, build, learn, revise our thinking, share and so much more in the classroom. Most of my students come from Spanish speaking homes and live in small dwellings, with large families. They don't all have the support they need, so our most difficult task is to help each of them succeed and shine in their own way. Many of these students do not have access to technology at home and do not have many life experiences that others are so lucky to have. A majority of them struggle in the classroom academically, even though they give it their all. The dynamics of my class are very interesting because students range high to low academically, and some have learning disabilities. They work hard and deserve the opportunity to experience new things throughout the year. This will be my school's 1st year having a S.T.E.A.M Magnet Program (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) on site and this project will allow us to go beyond the surface of these subjects.

My Project

Our 3rd grade Science includes learning about Magnetism, Wind and Sound! These materials will help us be hands on and allow exploration with tools my students may have never seen before. We will use the Echo Dot to enhance Technology use and spark classroom wonderings. All the building materials, including the Magna-Tiles and Create-A-Chain-Reaction, will be used to create various models, giving my students the opportunity to try new things and work through problems they come across in the process. We will try new forms of Art with the watercolors on the canvas and display it for other students to see. All these materials will build positive minds and foster the love of learning that all students should have.
