Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in my area are curious, intelligent and eager to learn. At the beginning of this pandemic, many students had a hard time connecting to the online resources that were available. Slowly they are able to connect and understand what they need to do.

This month a new reality is emerging, now parents have to choose between paying the internet bill and paying the rent.

This is their reality! Some parents are still working and students have to stay home with older siblings or grandparents. They are eager to learn, but at times these worries become a part of their life.

My Project

I will read the books to my students during my zoom meetings. We will discuss how the characters are inventors, creators, scientists. Each week we will create the car, boat or plane with the materials provided.

Students will then be challenged to create one of the the projects from materials they find at home.

Kids will write observations in their journals. How fast it moves? does it fly? does it sink?

I will ask students to create a video showing their creations and observations and have them share it with class.
