I have a classroom full of avid readers and we need books! We are at a brand new, very innovative, amazing campus. My students are excited to learn, love to read and ready to tackle any goal I put in front of them. They understand my high expectations for them and are willing to take on any challenge. However, as you can imagine, being on a brand new campus, much is left to be desired in the resources department. We are lacking variety in book club selections and quantity of books available for each group. My students are looking forward to having these books in their hands and for the discussions and fun that will follow.
My Project
Help me build a book club library that will inspire my students to read! Students need choice in what they read, I want to be able to offer them quality books that they will be excited about. My hope is to start with fiction and continue to build this book club library by adding non-fiction, biography, and poetry collection options. Students will choose titles they are interested in, be placed in groups based on the chosen title, read, meet and discuss their reading and thinking. Students will participate in conversations with classmates, end of book club activities, and reviews of their chosen titles. Book clubs are invaluable!
