My Students

Our students love new books of great quality. They are a diverse group of students in an inner-city school who love be represented in their books.

They always request books that reflect their lives and I want them to feel feel like they are front and center in our collection development.

The books included in this list are based on requests from students. I wish everyone could experience the joy they are going to feel when they see them!

My Project

My goal is that all of our students leave the library feeling represented in the books they find. Inspired by Dr. Rudine Sims Bishop, I believe that books are windows and doors for our kids and provide access to multicultural worlds that they would not get to experience without them.

It is not easy to keep a vibrant, current collection for all of the students in a K-8 school but it is my life's work!

This project will ensure that all of our kids can walk away excited with their requests in hand.
