My Students
My students naturally love to build, construct and create different structures in the classroom. It is often heard in the classroom can we go to blocks today? The materials that I am requesting will go perfectly with our geometry unit of building and making 3D shapes.
I am so excited to work with such a wonderful group of 17 kindergarten students!
They arrive to school each morning with smiles, warm hugs and are ready to tackle the goals that I have set for them each day. While many of my students arrive to school with various challenges they never lack the enthusiasm and the "I can" attitude to work towards accomplishing their goals. The public Title 1 school that I work at believes in creating instruction that meets the needs of all students regardless of their academic levels. With that in mind as the teacher I am constantly looking at the resources I have available to meet the needs of my students.
My Project
The materials that I am requesting will work perfectly with the geometry unit that we have coming up soon in math. These materials will allow me to work with my students on building models of 3D shapes in small group activities. I am currently lacking the materials that are needed to allow students to independently work on building 3D shapes. This will also give my students time to work on being the natural builders and architects that they crave on a daily basis. Not only will this meet the goal of exploring the construction of shapes it will give them time to engage, learn and have fun doing what they do best! Afterall, they are our future engineers, architects and construction workers. This will give them the practice to explore angles, shapes and lines that are needed to construct not only shapes but objects that exist in our world. These materials are the connecting tools that I need to take their thinking from the concrete to the abstract.
Donations to this project will allow my future engineers, architects and construction workers to have the materials to practice the skills that are necessary to understanding 3D shapes.
The Lysol wipes are a crucial aspect to keeping our room clean and germ free during the cold season. It is my goal to give my students every possible opportunity to be successful learners in their environment. Your support will contribute to their success with understanding how to build and construct shapes.
