My students need magnetic words to build a story on a board and story papers to transfer the story.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My first grade students have been working on narrative writing since day one this school year. I encourage them to use their imaginations. I beg them to make me laugh, say "WOW", make me scared, excited while I am reading their story on my couch at home.
I currently have 19 students (12 boys and 7 girls), but could go up to 21 if there are more students move to our school.
Most of them are on the free breakfast and lunch program. Some students' English is limited, but they have been working very hard to gain words in English, and other students are very sweet to help them out, being mini-teachers. They all are very eager to learn new information, and they talk about it over and over. When they realize that they have accomplished something new, their eyes glow with excitement.
My Project
At first, I am going to use the materials in a small group setting. I will show them the magnetic words have different color (subject, verb, etc.) and practice to build a sentence. Then the students will transfer the sentence to the story paper. I will encourage them to go to their table to continue the story they started with the magnetic words. Later when I see the students are comfortable using the words, the words will be available for anyone who needs to build the first sentence.
Also for struggling readers who also struggle in writing, I will use it in a small group or individual setting to build a simple sentence, look at the spelling, work on sentence structure, and more. Then I will encourage them to copy the sentence on a story paper. They will be required to reread the sentence and illustrate it. Gradually, they will be encouraged to work on it individually.
The young children are full of stories.
They chat about something all day long. They want to share it. The writing can be one of the ways. However, what they say and what they write sometimes do not match. They do not have the concrete structure skills yet. The materials I requested will benefit my students to be able to practice sentence structure, and my wish is that they will be able to write a story from their imagination, experience, and research. The materials will give them the first step.
