Build a Digital Literacy Classroom

My students need laptop computers to perform in a digital literacy classroom. We will research, explore, create, and edit in my classroom. Students will be highly engaged!

My Students

I want to reach students and prepare them for a 21st century future! Students will come into my digital literacy classroom eager to get to work "learning by doing". Although our school is a "bring your own device" school, most students aren't able to own their own equipment. Let's equip them!

Students in my school are typically more eager to learn when digital equipment and hands-on materials are involved.

Our students are ready to step into the technical age, but many of them do not have computers at home. We are also devoted to improving the graduation rate in our area. Our school is very focused on developing our teaching techniques to meet the learning styles of the children growing up in this computer age. I am devoted to teaching with new techniques too! I have also noticed that behavior management is much easier on days when lessons include technology and hands-on learning. On these days my students are directed to accomplish tasks on the computers and present their learning in a digital format.

My Project

I am part of a new digital literacy training, but have a limited set of tools with which to teach. I am eager to put new techniques into action, and with two new laptops I can incorporate technology. My students get more out of lessons when they are given digital equipment to work with. They learn more than I even plan for them when they are given the opportunity to explore and create on computers. Our school has provided a few tablets for each classroom, but there are limitations that can prevent many of our plans from working. When given the proper equipment, these kids amaze me! There are no limits to what they can do! I cannot wait to give them the laptops to unleash their abilities to develop through Microsoft Office 365, production, and video editing, to name a few! Having computers in class may be their only chance to learn how to use this tool, which will be vital to their future successes.

Your donations will put computers in the hands of children who might not have opportunities outside of the classroom.

They will be better prepared to graduate, go into the work force as capable employees, or even enter college ready to tackle their goals. This is important equipment for the type of teaching that is necessary in today's classrooms.
